Workforce Investment Board

The local Workforce Investment Board is composed of influential community leaders whose goal is to identify the employment development needs of the county and oversight of the One-stop Career Centers. The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 provides the overall framework. The Act authorizes the funding and sets forth the parameters for the local services to youth, adults, and dislocated workers.

Why We are a WIB

We are a WIB to help build community, help set long-term strategic goals that make a difference to people who need help. Work is fundamental to success and happiness; we want to make sure that we give every one a chance to succeed and help employers stay competitive. We are dedicated to creating a world-class workforce development system in Yolo County.

The WIB members are a volunteer group of citizens from business, labor, education, and community organizations appointed by the county Board of Supervisors to oversee the implementation of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998. This act provides the local hands-on oversight of the services to job seekers who need help; and provides businesses with a wide variety of opportunities from the One-Stop Career Center system.
