Employment Center - Main Lobby
Participants may use the Employment Center Monday through Friday, 8-5:00. Staff is available to assist participants in job search techniques and computer research. Resources available include: Internet browsing, job leads, on-site recruitment, and daily help wanted ads from regional newspapers. They may also use the copy and fax machines to assist their efforts. Use of the telephones are available for employment related activities only.

Internet Job Searching - Room 175
Participants will learn how to navigate the Internet and CalJOBS. Internet navigation includes enrollment and resume entry on CalJOBS, an EDD website that allows individuals to look for jobs within California. As a result, participants will become more comfortable using a computer in their job search. Individuals mandated by Unemployment to enter and or update their CalJOBS resume can meet this requirement by taking this class.

Career Exploration - Room 176
Participants will attend a four-day workshop that assesses interests, personality, work values and job skills that will guide them to a career path and future job choices.

Goal Assessment - Room 176
Staff works individually with participants who want to explore their interests, personality, and job skills to investigate appropriate career goals. Call for Marilyn or Bree for an appointment, phone numbers listed on front top side of calendar.

Spanish Speaking Employment Workshop - Room 170
This ten-day workshop is for limited English speaking customers only. This workshop accesses interests, personality, work values and job skills; it will guide them to a career path and future job choices. It also covers applications, resumes, and interviewing assistance.

How to Get a State Job - Room 175
A workshop for those interested in getting a state job. It reviews where to find information on State job openings, how to determine if one meets the minimum qualification requirements, how to apply for testing and be placed on the eligibility list, the interview process, the probation period, and acquiring permanent civil servant status. All state applicants must be able to read, write and speak English. You must be registered in CalJOBS to attend. Call Gigi Camilo (530) 661-2616 to reserve your seat.

Beginning Computers - Room 175
This is a hands-on class designed for beginning computer users. Learn the fundamentals of the computer, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. The training topics will rotate from a beginning Word, Excel and PowerPoint to an intermediate Word, Excel and PowerPoint. See calendar for availability. Customers MUST start on Monday of the first week of the workshop.

Life Skills - Room 175
A two-day class that is fun, innovative and highly interactive. It is a class that tackles the tough skills of life and prepares you for work.

Job Application Tips - Room 176
An informative one-day workshop that helps participants write a good application that gets the employer's attention and answers those difficult questions while presenting a positive image. Also, how to compile a list of references and write a letter of recommendation is included.

Writing a Better Resume - Room 176
A one-day workshop where participants write or update a personal resume, with the assistance of trained staff. Participants may choose the style and format that best fits their background and experience creating a personal resume. How to write a cover letter is included.

Learn to Interview Better - Room 176
A two-day class where you will learn how to prepare and communicate effectively with employers. You will learn how to develop acceptable replies to hard to answer questions; transitioning to the Employment Center will also be covered.
